Existentialist, biverson?
Ah, existentialism, I read is a term from intellectual history. But Sartre applied it to his work himself. I've always loved the expression, "there is no analgesic for existential pain," especially on cloudy, damp autumn mornings when October might as well be November.
Well put, biverson! My college philosophy instructors loved to dwell on this topic back in an era of concern about nuclear destruction, Vietnam War & runaway inflation.
And today college instructors dwell on the destructive effects of global climate change, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan & runaway inflation -- no wait, the runaway inflation hasn't started up yet. [Sigh] The more things change, the more they remain the same.
