Guns don't kill people, per se, people do, pathickey. Curbing such wanton violence must focus efforts on quelling street fights which leave opponents grabbing weapons before learning to resolve their disputes with words & mutual gain bargaining. Time for a Ceasefire?

What a crock. He's done this before: finagling his way out of a tougher sentence by agreeing to help the authorities. In 1998, he was convicted of conspiring to smuggle heroin into the country from his native Pakistan and avoided a lengthy prison sentence by working for the DEA undercover. And look how that turned out. Isn't there a saying for this? Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me?

The New York Times wrote a great article in November 2009 about him and his life, showing how the devout Muslim didn't just suddenly foray into crime and terrorism.

Just got a little e-mail release from Lauri Apple, heading up the project:

Just a reminder that the Chicago Aldermen Project has open exhibition hours and planned events today at Johalla Projects (1561 N. Milwaukee), including a talk with reporter Mick Dumke of the Chicago Reader, another with Alderman Waguespack, and alderman movies! Everything is listed at chicagoaldermenproject.blogspot.com. Come on down to see the show, and bring others. Noon-5 PM.

Last night's opening and party brought out at least 834 people (that's what our counter said at the end of the night, anyway). At least 17 aldermen and staffers from three other aldermen's offices showed up, and Manny Flores of the Illinois Commerce Commission was said to have been there (neither co-organizer Jeremy Scheuch nor I had seen him, but other guests saw him getting his photo taken). Two television news crews came, and we had a line out the door several times during the night. Good times.

Obsenity use may have helped you fight this battle, but has it lost you the support of those who prefer a more measured approach?

Your idiotic assumptions of my life aside, then, you are the one with the "fucked up perspective," as you so intelligently and eloquently put it. "The anti-war public"? Really what sort of illogical convention of speech IS that, anyway?

In the end, all you are doing is making excuses for their hypocrisy. They haven't a logical leg upon which to stand, but you go ahead and make all the excuses that make you feel good. That is, after all, where our society has arrived. Feeling good is all that counts. Consistency, logic, and real meaning and morals are unimportant. Congratulations for living down to expectations.

    Have a great night.
