I'm having a hard time seeing how this is bad for the Cubs. The Ricketts family sound like rock solid Cubs fans who also happen to be ridiculously successful financially. Someone lay out a scenario in which this ownership change is bad for the team because I'm not seeing it.
I think what's going to be bad is that Cubs fans are going to start believing this is the (latest) key to finally winning a World Series. Plus another thing for them to focus on besides the fact that their team sucks. Look! Over here! Pretty shiny thing for you to look at while we continue our slide into the basement!
I agree with you there. It's dangerous to think new ownership will solve all their problems, however, if new owners can make tough decisions that improve the team for the better, than that's great news. Look at how new ownership turned the Celtics around. They brought in some guys who were willing to do what it takes to bring in a championship-caliber team, and they executed to perfection.
Great, new owner. Yahoo. The Cubs need to play Baseball at the level in which they are paid to do.
If they're not getting it done on the field, then none of this matters. I agree, totally.
I wish the numbskulls were showing me a bit more this season.
