When I moved from my hometown of Monument, Colo. to study journalism at Loyola University Chicago, I found myself forsaking my Rockies for a city in which political scandal is about as routine as eating half-foot-thick pizza with sauce on the top. Weird. Three years later, I'm finishing my degree and addicted to unearthing how political wheeling and dealings at the top impact the daily lives of all of us Chicagoans.
I'm currently TrueSlant.com's Chicago politics writer, and the Editor-in-Chief of Loyola's award-winning student newspaper The Phoenix (www.loyolaphoenix.com). I'm also lucky enough to have held internships with the Chicago Sun-Times and MediaBurn.org, and worked as an intern for a Chicago Tribune writer. And oh yeah, I go to class sometimes too.
But most of all, I'm latching on to WC because let's face it, when you live and breathe Chicago politics (*cough* "shadow budget" *cough*) you need a support group. And that's where you fine people come in--send me a tip, shoot me a link, and I promise I'll patiently listen as we together cry over parking meters, tax hikes, and TIFs. I'll bring the Kleenex.
