There have been a lot of great reports in the Citizen this week on everything from the Olympics to polaroids. In this post-Lollapalooza world, however, with my throat still sore from Grant Park's dust and my room still a mess of piles of dirt-encrusted clothes, it's difficult for me to find or think of anything else for a weekend recap. Luckily, there's no lack of stories to draw upon. Here's what you should know going into what will hopefully be a calmer next few days...
Yesterday, John Maki offered readers an inside look at community concerns over Chicago's potential 2016 Olympic Summer Games bid. Communities for an Equitable Olympics (CEO 2016) rallied to protect low-income families from being priced out should Chicago get the bid. As if the Olympics weren't already interesting enough.

Also on Thursday, Liz Logan shined a light on the hipster tragedy of the year -- the extinction of the Polaroid. The instant-photo will cease production by the end of 2008, and Chicagoans are already responding with, yep, an art exhibit (what, you expected riots? Remember who we're talking about here). Get the rest of the story here.
There's a new kind of pizza in Wrigleyville, and it's not exactly traditional. Kate Radway reported on Ian's Pizza by the Slice opening on Clark Street south of Addison. The place sells Mac n' Cheese pizza in addition to a variety of strange combinations you wouldn't have expected from a pizzeria. And, okay, pizza might not be the most important story of the day, but it's almost lunchtime and, look, this is my section, I don't need to make excuses for what I pick!

The Windy Citizen launched a new blog, which is a news story in itself, obviously. The Vanishing Village, launched by Windy Citizen founder Brad Flora, "will track the impending demolition of part of the village of Bensenville, Ill. through the O'Hare Modernization Program." Since the initial post, Brad has been updating often, and he's even made us a custom Google map, complete with what appear to be purple cameras and ghosties from Pac Man.

Last, I leave you with a unique look at last weekend's Lollapalooza. No, not a final look at the mayhem that ensued during Rage, or an in-depth examination of Radiohead's performance of "Fake Plastic Trees," but Heather Gross's top 9 tattoos at the festival. This is much more clever than what I would have looked for, the top nine reasons Jeff Tweedy would think it's okay to wear that ridiculous red suit.
