Public can comment on Chicago-area transit at RTA hearings
Beginning Monday and running through Aug. 14, the public can comment on the state of mass transit in the Chicago area at a series of budget hearings offered by the Regional Transportation Authority. The hearings are being held during the summer to inform the public about the 2009 budget, implementation of reforms from transit legislation approved in January, updating the regional transportation strategic plan and the status of "critically needed capital investment" to fund transit projects, the RTA said. The first round of hearings will be held in Chicago on Monday at 9 a.m. at RTA headquarters, 175 W. Jackson Blvd., Suite 1550; and at 6 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 1259 W. 111th St. Another will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Toman Public Library, 2708 S. Pulaski Rd.; and Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Rubloff Auditorium at Loyola University's Water Tower Campus, 25 E. Pearson St.
