New law will use GPS to enforce court orders of protection
Uptown, Chicago, Ill. —  

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich signed legislation Monday that would offer more protection to victims of domestic violence by allowing satellite tracking of those who violate orders of protection. "This is a way to enforce court orders of protection before it's too late," Blagojevich said. The measure was named after Cindy Bischof, 43, a real estate broker slain March 7 by her ex-boyfriend, Michael Giroux, outside her Elmhurst office. Giroux then killed himself. Giroux twice had been charged with violating orders of protection sought by Bischof, of Arlington Heights. Bischof's family had pressed for passage of the bill after her death.
