An injury-depleted Cubs roster takes another hit this week when cleanup hitter Aramis Ramirez takes the next three games off to tend to the birth of a son back home in the Dominican Republic.
Ramirez originally asked for four days off but was told he could take three. He is to rejoin the team Thursday for the finale of a four-game series in San Francisco.
The loss of the team's RBI leader couldn't come at a worse time for a Cubs team reeling from a three-game sweep by the White Sox that left them with their first four-game losing streak and eight losses in their last 12 games.
