Not a fan of linking to the HuffPo's rewritten versions of original stories:

From the Tribune: http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-biz-chicago-reader-creative-l...

From the Reader itself: http://www.chicagoreader.com/TheBlog/archives/2009/08/25/under-new-manag...

I agree, adelle, that would have been better. Seems like Whet Moser's piece is the ultimate authority on this one. Certainly not the HuffPo in this case.

Which begs that question, when are Whet's pieces not the ultimate authority? Rarely, I say.

Whet's was the ultimate authority, no question, which is why the HP article quotes it and links to it by name in the lede. The Trib article hadn't yet run when HP first linked to Whet's piece. After the Trib article ran, HP added a link to it as well.

I'm sure it's a fine writeup. Actually it is. But my objection is more about an aggregator linking to another aggregator. They've got blogs and AP stories are are original. I'll post that stuff no problem. But the rewritten news doesn't belong on a site that's already aggregatin' da noos.

Fair enough. That seems like good policy, actually.

Agreed on the issue with linking to HuffPo.
