Twestgard, your headline makes for a nice contract with that of the current top story on the site. Well-played. Well-played.
Kudos for calling out the S-T on the brown-nosing in their piece. Should we all get on our knees and thank the mayor for admitting what's been obvious to everyone else for months now? He screwed up. Admission is just the first step in a process that should lead to change....but definitely won't. So why get so excited about it?
Mick Dumke at the Reader adds another good point. It just the process of how the contract came to happen that the Mayor is avoiding here. It's also whether selling the meters was ever even necessary. But there was never any time for that debate, since no one really knew about it until too late.

Chicagoans pay twice by selling parking meters. That's the flaw in public asset sales. Chicagoans purchased the parking meters once & now they are paying exhorbitant rates to create a cash flow to justify this private investment.
May I invite you to read the book Free Lunch by New York Times columnist David Cay Johnston.
Stockyards venue for Daley's press conference? Brilliant idea! Might you revise your Windy Citizen share headline to be more family friendly?
No. I find that people who get upset over words like "shit" are hypersensitive, judgmental, and indirect communicators, and thus not people I care to be around. So it works well for me, and presumably them as well.

Don't mind qstrian, he's just our local language police making sure the poor children aren't exposed to those dangerous four-letter words. As a former Daley flak, however, he seems to care little if the same youngins are exposed to toxic levels of corruption, just so long as they don't talk dirty.
Expletive deletive!
