Nelson's Bio
Student, professional, philosopher, writer, blogger, fake photographer, fool, romantic, likes commas too much. I am an Intern for the Windy Citizen. What being an Intern means, I have no idea, but there is work and fun to be had. I am a student — for much longer than I ever should have been as an undergrad — at Columbia College in Chicago majoring in Journalism. I want to write novels, but that is like saying you want to go to the moon as a child. It happens, but not to many. I am obsessed with the mobile movement, although I still love my desktop computer.
I worked for a few years as a waiter and bartender. In that time I ended up at a private country club called Edgewood Valley. While there I met, worked for, served and generally hated the wealthy and powerful. There were billionaires and all were well into millionaires. A certain Chicago Alderman who's last name rhymes with jerk was a member there, along with his very impressive and independent wife and adopted child. I learned a lot, mostly that the best people are often those that have very little.
Before that I got turned down to my dream school, RISD, and went to Kent State University as an architecture major and hated it. I came back, hopped around majors between two schools, and have ended up as a journalism major at Columbia and love it.
Constantly looking for something to write about and often happy to help out a blog with some content.
