What I love: my family, Chicago and Chicagoans, reading (mostly non-fiction), politics, media, discussing/debating almost anything, traveling, great TV shows like Mad Men, both films AND movies and finally, the White Sox.
FULL POLITICAL DISCLOSURE: I'm an independent conservative which means I understand the difference between party and ideology. This distinction is lost on most people.
I do not now, nor do I ever plan to, work at City Hall. This should be obvious if you're reading the Daily Daley even casually, but I'm making it extra clear here. Also, these days I'm ineligible to do it even if I wanted to since hubby and I have moved to the burbs. Did you know that to work for the city you have to live in it? Yep, it's a modern form of serfdom.
I AM politically involved though. I've volunteered on campaigns, I participate in grass-roots activist groups and I helped launch a PAC (now defunct). And naturally, I had planned to further indulge my political passions and one day run for office... But these days I'm leaning more towards public affairs journalism. I'd rather write about the scumbags than risk becoming one. Currently I'm doing a tiny bit of freelancing for the Tribune, but of course would love a full-time writing/editing/reporting job somewhere. If you hear of anything, please let me know.
