Adrian's Bio
I’m a writer and editor in Chicago, where I cover Mayor Richard M. Daley for The Windy Citizen, education for the Chi-Town Daily News and arts and entertainment for Decider, a locally focused Web site published by The Onion.
Since September 2006, I have served on the Society of Professional Journalists‘ ethics committee, and I am a former member of society’s national board. In 2008, I traveled to Taiwan to represent the society on a professional exchange program.
I have also spoken on several panels regarding social media, editing and career development.
Before I moved to Chicago, I was a reporter at the Orlando Sentinel in Florida, where I covered local politics, government and a huge retirement community called The Villages. I also interviewed John McCain on the Straight Talk Express and covered Barack Obama's last campaign visit to Florida.
I joined the Sentinel after reporting for the Los Angeles Times, where I participated in Metpro, the Tribune Co.’s six-month program for journalists from diverse backgrounds. I covered business, education, health and immigration, and I interviewed Oscar De La Hoya.
You might recognize my voice from pieces on National Public Radio and other international news outlets — but not as a reporter. I’ve done some voice-over work in a Cuban accent. I also do other accents, but those have not been broadcast.
I met my wife, Nicole, in high school. We live in the Near North Side.
