Robert Lee is 43 years old, a former gang member who began committing crimes at age 12 and became caught in the cycle of drugs, jails and institutions between the ages of 13-28. At age 14 he left high school to help his mother care for his father (who was shot and paralyzed in a drug related robbery) and four younger siblings. At age 18 he was serving a ten year sentence for a violent crime. At age 28 he was on his way back to prison for a possible life sentence under the repeat offender laws. Fortunately, Robert was able to change the course of his life and commit to helping others who are caught in the same vicious cycle. He is currently completing final course work for an M.S. degree in Psychology from University of Phoenix (Chicago Campus). He also received his B.S. degree in Business Management at University of Phoenix in 2007. He became a certified substance abuse counselor (C.A.D.C.) in 1998 and specializes in youth issues as well as criminal behavior. Robert is a loving father and husband and a dedicated martial artist, ranked black belt from Bushido and Black Dragon Slayers associations. He currently works to help those afflicted with opiate addiction on the Southside of Chicago. Robert has always been an avid reader and writer and is currently working on several literature projects designed to address urban violence amongst youth, psychological scaring, prisoner community re-entry issues, poverty and possible solutions.
