Hi, everyone. Yes, I know I'm not here with crime, but you know why? After yesterday, I started to believe the fact nobody cares about crime in the 'hood. I would've thought you guys were concerned with the stabbing, but I guess not. To be honest, I'm hesistant to do the crime blotter today. I'm not sure if anybody cared or cares about crime like I do. I feel like I must be some joke to all of you. Well, I'm not. I'm being serious, especially today. What happened to all of the emails/comments I used to recieve from everyone? I don't recieve those anymore. I don't know if it's because I moved over here to Windy Citizen (if it is, I will switch back to Blogger) or what, but lately nobody seems to care. Believe it or not, I'm concerned for the safety of all of you. You guys are my neighbors. Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm just having a bad day today (yes, I'm having a little bit of one). Maybe I'm just a drama queen by blogging most of the day, but I do it out of concern for all of you. Aldermen like Reboyras or Colon won't address it, so SOMEONE has to, and I chose to. Let me know if you want to see crime for today.

4:30PM - I'm here. Good afternoon, everyone :-).
4:32PM - 1) Disturbance. 3116 N Lawndale. Two males on the property that don't belong there. 2) Burglar report. 2945 N Kenosha. At Ken-Well Park.
4:48PM - Reckless driver. 3000 block of N Davlin.
5:08PM - Generic ticket. On 2525's beat.
5:12PM - An RD number has been pulled from the Ken-Well Park job. It's HR426968 with the event number of 13009.
5:24PM - 1) Gang disturbance. 2113 N Avers. Four of them in a grey van smoking weed. 2) Disturbance. 3100 N Davlin. 15 yr old riding a bike up and down the block, bothering people, I'm assuming.
5:43PM - Domestic battery. 2216 N Keystone. Three guys fighting over a girl. Shouldn't this be a plain Battery, or a Battery in progress?
5:58PM - I have to go eat. I will certainly be back soon :-).
6:13PM - I'm back from eating.
6:28PM - Something's going on Palmer. 2525 and some other officer are mobling regarding a wallet stolen. I wasn't paying too much attention.
6:35PM - There's a disturbance in front of my house. Two guys are arguing. One looks like a gangbanger. I'll wait and see what this blows up into.
6:37PM - These appear to be gangbangers. It's a babby momma/daddy argument.
6:40PM - The guy and the girl arguing left the area.
6:54PM - Rock throwing disturbance. 3900 W Palmer.
7:06PM - What orginally came in as a vice complaint and disturbance with teens now comes in as a gang disturbance. All kinds of mayhem, in other words. Location is 2200 block of N Keystone.

i, too, care very much! the reason i haven't commented until now is because you have to set up an account on windy citizen to leave a comment. i can kind of understand why they require that, but i'd really rather not be forced to have an account with them just to comment on your blog, as yours is the only one on their website that i follow. i wouldn't be all that surprised if the reason you're getting fewer comments is because of this. don't get discouraged and keep up the good work, tim! i think most people do still care, whether or not they are emailing you.

Thanks for your comments about having to sign up to comment on blogs on the WC. I'd like to explain a bit about why we do this. Perhaps you can offer some further perspective that can help us find the best approach.
While we realize requiring registration can be a deterrent for some folks, it serves a few purposes:
1. Keeps out spammers. The WC was receiving upward of 140 spam comments a day before we required commenters create accounts on the site.
2. The comments that do get through are much more thought-out and interesting. By requiring people to create a free profile (takes 20 seconds!) we're able to weed out much of the glib, poorly thought-out responses that tend to pile up on the web.
To make it as easy as possible for folks to register on the site, we let them create accounts using their Facebook profiles if they like, which shortens the process even more.
If people are hitting snags or have questions about registration on Windy Citizen, we want to help you out! Just drop an e-mail to brad@windycitizen.com and we'll get to work on whatever problem you've run into.
I'm a big fan of this blog and all the work being poured into it. If there are ideas about how to make it even better, I'm all ears.
I have been following your blog for a while and have enjoyed and appreciate your dedicated efforts. It has been an excellent way to keep in touch with current crime events.
I have not commented recently, due to the same account set-up reluctance mentioned by others. Honestly, I found your other blog to be much more user-friendly, with less distractions.

Thanks for the comment, moulin. I honestly think Blogger was easier to use as well (and I've been getting a Blogger fetish lately, LOL), but I find easy it using this one, too. I'm not sure if I want to switch back over to Blogger or keep this one. Besides, I kind of like seeing the names on my posters. Back on the old blog, I could never figure out who was who (except for the folks who left their name).

I've made my decision. It was kind of hard to. I'm taking my blog back over to the old blog starting July 27. I've already notified the owner of the site.
