Good morning, everyone, it's 5:27am. Today, I'm heading back to summer school for what is the final week. Thursday is our very last day. We're having a birthday party for one student in the class who is offically an adult today. Anyway, today is going to be near 80 degrees, and since it's been cold (for this time of year) lately, crime may go up. We'll see what happens. Here is crime before I leave this morning and for this afternoon/evening.
5:35AM - Burglar alarm. 4111 W Parker.
5:47AM - The batteries on my radio died. I'll put new ones in when I get home. Have a great day, everyone.
7:44AM - What happened at Kedzie and George around 6:55am? Saw three squad cars over there with officers and a supervisor talking to someone as I was heading to school.
1:31PM - I'm back. Good afternoon, everyone.
2:40PM - Disturbance. 2965 N Milwaukee. Group of guys in the rear of the bank drinking and refusing to leave.
3:14PM - Breaking news. Multiple tickets of "Shots fired" coming in at North and Pulaski. Reportedly, two cars are shooting at each other. A male on a bike is also shooting. Cars are heading towards Wabansia on Pulaski.
3:15PM - Tickets are saying a male Hispanic with a red shirt and braids is doing the shooting. He's fleeing towards Keystone on North.
3:16PM - We have a vitcim from this. An off duty sheriff was shot at.
3:18 to 3:22PM - Police/dispatch chatter regarding the Shots fired.
3:23PM - Reckless driver. 3100 N Davlin. 14 yr old on a dirt bike.
3:25PM - Person shot. Wabansia and Harding. Male in a white shirt and blue jeans running northbound. He's been shot in the leg.
3:27PM - An unknown car just picked up the shooting vitcim. They sped off. I'll be waiting for any calls from the hospitals.
4:11PM - Battery in progress. 3700 W Cortland. Male beating a female in a car. They have kids with them.
4:19PM - The 4:11pm call is a 19Paul.
4:31PM - Loud music disturbance. 2509 N Ridgeway. From a white van.
5:02PM - Battery in progress. Koz Park. We've got a fight in front of the field house. 15 girls, probably gangbangers, are going at it.
5:04PM - A slow down is being given on our melee.
5:10PM - Disturbance. 3107 N Haussen. People drinking out in front. This ticket is over an hour old.
5:14PM - Information for the police. Hamlin and Diversey. Very large pothole in the street.
5:27PM - Battery in progress. Diversey and Pulaski. Teens fighting. Couple of calls on it.
6:02PM - I called 911 regarding a group of gangbangers showing their prescene by gathering on my block, and what happens? The moron call taker is like "You have to EXPLAIN what they're doing" and some other bull. She acted like she didn't want to send the police. What the hell more do I explain? They're out here gathering and there's little kids around. I explained that to her, but she was argumentative towards me. So, in the end, I just told the call taker I do not want police and hung up on her. Let someone else call. I don't want to be bothered with it (starting now). I'm just afraid that something may happen after last night's shooting on Gresham, so that's why I call. If someone gets shot, fine with me. But they can't say that I didn't try to do anything because I did. What is that I do wrong everytime I call 911?
6:08PM - Domestic disturbance. 2343 N Ridgeway. Boyfriend left with the TV. Argument also going on. Note: Oh, this requires a police response, huh? Stupid calls like this make it through. Wow. I call about a justifed gang disturbance going on and nobody wants to send the police.
6:42PM - Domestic Battery. Armitage and Avers. Complaint was hit by the boyfriend and took the cell phone.
6:55PM - All hell is breaking loose at Koz Park. Anywhere from 5 to 100 people fighting. Multiple units en route. I can hear the shouting all the way from here. Multiple calls coming in. One ticket had someone using a bat.
6:56PM - A slow down is being given on the brawl.
6:57PM - Battery vitcim injured. 2727 N Avers. Guy got beaten up badly.
6:58PM - Beat car 2524 is with the 6:57pm vitcim. 2729 N Avers. He's bleeding from the head.
6:59PM - Shots fired. Wrightwood and Springfield. Couple of heard in the area.
7:00PM - There's another vitcim at Wrightwood and Monticello.
7:02PM - The 6:59pm job is being coded. No shots fired.
7:07PM - 1) Someone opened the sinkhole at 2727 N Avers. The top needs to be put back on. 2) ANOTHER vitcim at Diversey and Pulaski. What the hell just took place?
7:09PM - I have to go eat. I'll be back.
7:27PM - I'm back.
7:39PM - No report will be done from the melee at Koz. Nobody wants to cooperate with the police.
7:40PM - They're calling back on the 6:08pm job.
8:02PM - Traffic accident. Fullerton and Avers. White van struck a female cyclist.
8:10PM - I have to go. I'll be back tomorrow. Good night, everyone.

What happened with the shooting in the 2900 block of N. Gresham last night? It's in the Tribune this morning. Did you hear anything about it over the radio?
I have no idea, avon_dale321. Could you give me the Tribune link (if you have it)?. I can't find it on their site. Was there anyone shot? What time did this happen at? Unfortunely, I was probably already in bed last night and no, I didn't hear anything about it on the radio. I listen to 25 all the time since that's my home district, and that only goes to Central Park. I wish it were different.

I was wondering if the story below had anything to do with your 3:14pm post from yesterday. If you have any other info on this it would be appreciated. In regards to your situation with gangmembers in your area and calling 911, don't lose faith. When calling if you are given an attitude ask for the dispatcher's name. When they ask you "what are they doing" tell them they are gangbanging and that when a rival gang comes shooting at them you don't want the bullets flying through your window. This usually gets their attention. Dont stop calling as these calls are tracked and based on the number of calls received they will or will not increase patrols in that area. A 17-year-old was shot 10 times while riding his bicycle late Monday on the West Side.
About 11 p.m. on the 1700 block of North Pulaski Road, the 17-year-old male was riding a bicycle when someone inside a vehicle drove by and started shooting at him, according to police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines, who was citing preliminary information.
The teen was struck 10 times and was transported to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he was listed in ''stable'' condition, Gaines said, adding that the teen was able to talk after the attack.
Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
Lucy, thanks for your comment :-). First, I don't believe the news report and my 3:14pm post are related. The report says the kid was shot at 11pm, but the people invovled might be from the earlier shots fired. Unfortunely, I do not have any other information.
I will definately ask for the dispatcher's name next time (will they ask you "what for?", though?). I will also tell the dispatcher what you said. And you're welcome :-).
