Both Chicagoist and Gapers Block ran stories about urban chicken keepers yesterday. Raising laying hens in the city appears to be a hot trend nationwide. Click the previous link to the Christian Science Monitor for a very informative article on the topic.

Thanks for the shout out for the Urban Chickens blog! It's really very easy to raise a couple egg-layers in your backyard, and I highly recommend the experience to anyone and everyone.

Here in Missouri, many people are raising chikcens in their own backyards. Even in the urban districts and bigger cities, more and more people are raising chieckens and even turkeys!

I didn't realize there were people who owned their own chickens in big cities. I mean I like chicken as much as anyone, but this seems crazy.
