After the Chicago Bulls beat the Utah Jazz on Saturday night, Jazz point guard Deron Williams called Derrick Rose "one of the best point guards in the league."
That got me thinking: how does Rose rank among the NBA's top point guards so far this season?
Here's my list of the league's top 15 point guards for this young 2008-09 season (based on a vague mixture of stats and each player's impact on their team's success; also, no combo guards included):
- Chris Paul
- Devin Harris
- Chauncey Billups
- Rajon Rondo
- Jason Kidd
- Jameer Nelson
- Jose Calderon
- Steve Nash
- Baron Davis
- Chris Duhon
- Tony Parker
- Mo Williams
- Deron Williams
- Derrick Rose
- Mike Bibby
That's my highly unscientific, approximate view of the landscape of point guards at this juncture of this season. I understand that this list is very arguable, and it will undoubtedly change as the weeks go by, but this is my story tonight and I'm sticking to it.
What are your thoughts? (Feel free to take me to task on any of the above rankings. I'm totally open to hearing your arguments. If they're good enough, I might budge and adjust my rankings.)

To be honest i dont even think chris duhon should be but in the same categorie. mike bibby should be way higher an so should rose
i would switch rose with calderon just cuz calderon cant keep up with rose, rose is just to fast n strong
I agree with most of your list. Chris Paul, definitely #1 in the league. But Mike Bibby, definitely needs to be higher than #15
are you kidding? chris duhon over rose, i agree, duhon shouldn't even be in this category.
