Have you ever wanted to follow the Mayor around town? Now you can!
DAILY JUICE
In the beginning, I promised you that you would be privvy to the Mayor's daily movements, The daily movements of Daley if you will. Today I'm making good on my promise and will continue to do so every weekday from now on. The Mayor's scheduled public appearances will, ahem, appear here so that you too can see Hizzoner (His Honor for the uninitiated) live and in person.
Today is Thursday, October 16 and the Mayor has already gotten a few things out of the way. At 8:25 a.m. he toured Innerworkings, Inc. and Echo Global Logistics in the Montgomery Ward building at 600 W. Chicago Ave. Why did these two companies warrant a visit from Chicago's first citizen? Large campaign contributions from the Board of Directors? "Green" initiatives? Your guess is as good as mine since the press office is silent on the matter.
Lest you fret that you missed your one and only chance to see the Mayor today, don't worry. He is also scheduled to attend a ribbon-cutting reception at the Erickson Institute at 451 N. LaSalle in the Polk Brothers Lecture Hall. I have attended these types of events in the past and, for anyone who is interested, yes, there is usually a giant red ribbon and big cartoon-like scissors involved.
MY VERY OWN DEEP THROAT?
For those that might not be familair, "Deep Throat" was the alias given to the secret source who was instrumental in linking President Nixon's administration to the Watergate scandal.
Today I was contacted by a source who shall, for the time being, remain nameless even though I suspect he would prefer it to be otherwise. Suffice it to say that I'm not the first writer he has contacted and I doubt if I will be the last. For now, let's keep it a mystery. Isn't it so much more fun that way? However, a name seems appropriate, and in the grand tradition of naming informants according to personal or physical attributes, I will call mine Bald Eagle.
