Mayor Daley keeps away from the media spotlight while we ponder his reaction to the Blagojevich impeachment and the still missing public transit funding
DALEY NEWS
If you wanted to spy the Mayor out on the town today, you're out of luck. No media appearances are being made and, after all, what's the point of talking to the media if no one pays attention to what they write or broadcast? If you could dear readers, please prove me wrong. I know you want to know what happens in your city, right?

On Saturday Mayor Daley reacted to the impeachment of Governor Blagojevich in his typical nonchalant fashion. Those looking for some sort of outrage on Daley's behalf must be disappointed. Or they must have moved to Chicago about 10 minutes ago. In any event, the Mayor continued to hold back on calling for the Governor's resignation and repeated the same tired old line:
"I have always said I think he should, for the sake of his own family and for the sake of the people of Illinois, make the right decision."

The media effort continues to look for someone, anyone responsible for Chicago missing out on a $153 million federal grant to fund public transit. Attempts to find out who's the blame seem to have been as effective as a teacher with her back to the class trying to determine who talked. Mayor Daley, for his part, has blamed everyone's favorite scapegoat, the economy:
Daley Saturday blamed the failing economy and its effect on the city's efforts to raise the local share of the project's costs.
"We could not do it because of the financial condition of August and September," he said. "Our bids for the parking meter (lease) came in October and November. You could not do it then. It was impossible."
Daley made it clear he blames the Bush administration for the failing economy.

Wow! Well, Mayor Daley is not going to be the first and not going to be the last to put the blame on "everyone's scapegoat". Fashionable politics I guess.
We get hit on the head because of a politician's ability to make an excuse out of everything right? That's politics!
As I posted on the other page... I'm waiting for Blagojevich to start selling used cars. He can go on a big advertising blitz like he did before for "the big 09 blowouts!"... lol
