DALEY NEWS

The mayor had no public events, possibly because he spent the day in some smoke-filled, back-alley betting parlor, frantically placing wagers on hockey playoffs.

After his win against Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson, Daley was jonesing for some more action. So today he made a bet with Detroit Mayor David Bing. And what did our mayor wager? According to the Trib:

This time out, Daley upped the ante for hockey's equivalent of the final four: a red Radio Flyer wagon, red tortilla chips from La Preferida, C.J. Vitner Company’s hot crunch cheese curls, Lindy’s chili, a gallon of Mario’s watermelon Italian lemonade, Lou Malnati's pizza and BBQ sauce from Robinson's Ribs.

No word yet whether Gamblin' Man Daley favors the filly or the front-runner in tomorrow’s Preakness Stakes. Though if the mayor is looking for a local favorite with decent odds, he might lay his money on Musket Man, winner of the Illinois Debry and third-place finisher at the Kentucky Derby.
