Hop on board

May not be the El, but there's still plenty of room on the Chicago
Blackhawks bandwagon.  Winners of three straight and four of their last
five games, the Hawks are at last an NHL team to be reckoned with.

Chicago's success has largely been due to the aggressive philosophy of General Manager Dale Tallon to land hockey talent in the Windy City, as well as Joel Quenneville's success since taking over the job behind the bench.

The team was 4-3 road winners tonight in Denver, overcoming a 2-1 deficit after one period of play.

Dustin Byfuglien potted two goals in the win, and Craig Adams and Andrew Ladd also scored, as the Hawks pulled out another two points with secondary scoring and timely saves by Nikolai Khabibulin.

The team returns home for a Sunday contest against Columbus.  It's
posted a sensational 9-1-4 record at the United Center thus far this
season.

But that's not all the buzz with this team.

Detroit lost tonight, 3-1 to Dallas, so the Hawks are just seven points back of the Red Wings now with a game in hand.

The Winter Classic against the Wings is fast approaching, set for
Jan. 1.  The Hawks get a crack at Detroit in Motown on Dec. 30 before
that highly-anticipated match-up at Wrigley Field.

And at 10 a.m. today, Saturday, Dec. 13, the team is unveiling a new
"Blackhawks Store" at 333 N. Michigan Ave.  The location was formerly
known as Hawkquarters.  Brian Campbell and Kris Versteeg will be signing autographs on site from 2 to 4 p.m.

The excitement continues, as the Hawks not only remain poised to
finally return to the playoffs, but also look to give Detroit a serious
push for the top spot in the Central Division.

Seriously, hop on board already.

UPDATE: I've learned from a commenter (thanks!) and have also confirmed that there's also an autograph session today with Patrick Kane at Lincolnwood Town Center Verizon Wireless Stores from 3 to 4 p.m.  Four tickets to the Winter Classic will be given away at the event.

The Blackhawks bandwagon is crowded these days, as the team competes in the final games of its first-round National Hockey Leagu.
