That's a LOTTA bands!

To help you sort through it all, Jim DeRogatis of the Sun-Times presents his annotated list today. Equal parts insight and snark - http://blogs.suntimes.com/derogatis/2009/04/the_2009_lollapalooza_lineup...

The DeRogatis post mentions the $850 luxury VIP cabana seats for high-rollers.

FYI: At last year's festival, right before Rage Against the Machine performed (read my review here) I chatted with a paid of lawyers who forked over the big bucks for them. "Totally not worth it" was their verdict. In fact, they'd waded down into the crowd to watch the show with me and the rest of the plebes.

Let's not forget the bands that influenced so many of these back in the days of the first big music festival. Of course I mean Woodstock in 1969. It's the 40th anniversary this year and a lot of those bands are touring again together in honor of the occasion. There's a Heroes of Woodstock show touring including Jefferson Starship playing Jefferson Airplane tunes, and Tom Constanten, keys player of the '69 Grateful Dead. It will be held at the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan on July 30th. If you like the festival scene, it should be worth checking out.

If only it wasn't so expensive! I haven't moved to the city yet so with the $205 ticket and gas and food and a place to stay... Breaks my heart I will have to miss it.
