The city was busy today and as I walked home from work this afternoon, I asked myself if the infulx of people was a result of Lollapalooza kicking off in Grant Park tomorrow. I got my wristband yesterday – no lines and will hopefully cut done wait time tomorrow afternoon.
I got an impromptu invite to the Thievery Corporation secret meet up sponsored by LP33.tv at the Crimson Lounge at the Hotel Sax. We got to get a few free beers and got to chat with dj duo Rob and Eric.
The conversations were quick. Rob is most looking forward to seeing Depeche Mode. He mentioned a previous performance at the Cochella site in Indio, California where he enjoys the privacy of landing in the Palm Spring Airport. I mentioned that Phish was playing there this Halloween. Eric said he was a Utah Jazz fan and struck up a conversation about the NBA and proclaimed Chicago as one of his favorite cities to play in.
Thievery Corporation played a pre-Lollapalooza show this evening at the House of Blues. They play tomorrow on the Chicago 2016 stage at 6:00pm.
