Hey folks, hot on the heels of yesterday's news that CBS2Chicago.com is running a feed of your top shared links from WindyCitizen.com, I've got another great piece of news to share with you.
Starting today, fans of the Chicago Reader's reporting and blogging can more easily share their favorite stories on the Windy Citizen using "Windy Citizen Share" buttons on ChicagoReader.com.
Here's what it looks like on their feature stories:
And here's where you can find the Windy Citizen buttons on the Chicago Reader's blogs:
What this lets you do: If you spot something you like on the Reader's web site, you can now share it on the Windy Citizen with just a few clicks. The URL field on the submission form will be filled in for you already.
Why this is exciting for WindyCitizen.com members: Expect to see lots more Chicago Reader links shared on the Citizen and more folks coming over from the Reader to vote on them. Picking up new submitters and voters for stories will only make the Citizen that much smarter, and our front page, that much more interesting.
Also, this is a big step for our effort to find and vote up the best links in Chicago each day. Having our buttons on the Reader's site will make it easier for their stories to show up here and will help spread the word about the work that you're all doing.
So head on over to ChicagoReader.com to check out some stories today. If you spot something you like on there, use the new buttons to share it on the Citizen so other folks can vote it up.
Note to publishers: If you'd like to add WindyCitizen.com buttons to your site or blog, we're always available to help make that happen. You can find our buttons, badges and widgets over on this page. If you have any questions, just hit us up at editor@windycitizen.com.
