Ascending north from ORD on an idyllic summer evening.

As I live a few miles from what's commonly called the world's busiest airport (Chicago O'Hare/ORD), I see a lot of airplanes. Fortunately, I really dig them. Early evening brings a parade of international jumbos past my house, but I'm usually without my camera when I need it.

I've been waiting a year for this shot, having taken a nice one of (probably) this same jet before my hard drive crashed and ate it.

food garden
by illustriousbean

We found a food garden in Grant Park on our last day in Chicago. It was a little surprising to me as there were carrots, tomatoes, cabbage, basil, etc. But it seemed like it was relatively undisturbed, ala an ornamental garden.

Personally, I would have assumed that an urban food garden would be utilized by homeless people as well as corporate-types on their lunch break looking for a fresh veggie or two. Guess not. I am still wondering what the deal is.
